£10 billion a year
A realistic possibility laundered through UK property annually

The National Crime Agency has assessed that there is a realistic possibility that up to £10 billion could be laundered through the UK property market each year – money linked to offences such as fraud, drugs, corruption, sanctions evasion and exploitation.

For most people this risk is abstract. For Nominated Officers and MLROs it’s personal – you’re the ones signing off policies, handling suspicious activity reports, challenging sales teams and protecting colleagues, consumers and the market from criminal activity.

Behind every suspicious pattern is a human cost. The proceeds can come from:

People trafficked into forced labour Families wiped out by fraud Communities hollowed out by drugs Bribery and corruption Sanctions evasion

The Nominated Officer podcast is about the people who stand between that harm and the UK property market – and who rarely get thanked for it.

Season 1: Property’s NO on dirty money

Guests from estate agency, conveyancing, lending and supervision talking about what it really feels like to carry the NO or MLRO badge – the judgement calls, the loneliness, the small wins and the moments you know a customer or victim has just been protected.
